Registration is now open for the 2019 Fall Season for Blackhawk Lacrosse. The fall season is designed for players of all experience levels from a brand-new player to the most experienced. Register early to lock in the early-bird rate…Details below:

Important Dates:

  • Early-Bird Registration ends July 22, 2019
  • Late Registration closes – July 30, 2019
  • Season starts week of Sept 2nd

 

US Lacrosse Membership: For insurance purposes, all participants must have a current US Lacrosse membership. If you are not a current US Lacrosse member or your membership expires during the season, our website will open a new window bringing you to the US Lacrosse membership website to purchase or renew

Early Bird Registration Before July 22 - $50

Registration Fee After July 22 - $70

This program will be offered to boys in 1st and 2nd grade. This program is designed for beginner and experienced players. The Rec program will focus primarily on the fundamentals of the game, skill development, and proper lacrosse techniques.

  • Practices:  1x/week (tentatively Sundays starting Sept 2nd)
  • Players: 4v4 format (max 6v6) with optional goalie or shot blocker. Coaches on field.
  • Games:  Games will be against other Blackhawk Rec teams
  • Rules: No body checking permitted. Legal stick checks and poke checking techniques will be focused on at this age level.

This season the boys 3/4 program will conform to US Lacrosse rules and shift to a 7v7 game on a modified field. The shift provides the boys more touches, greater opportunity to create lacrosse plays and a better opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game. The Rec program will focus primarily on the fundamentals of the game, skills development and proper lacrosse techniques.

  • Practices:  1 required practice per week
  • Games:  Games will be 7v7 against other Rec programs and Blackhawk Rec teams
  • Tournament: End of season tournament against other rec clubs
  • Rules: No body checking permitted. Legal stick checks and poke checking techniques will be focused on at this age level.

Blackhawk Lacrosse will host a 6-week clinic designed for beginners. Sessions are held on Sunday afternoons.  This program is open to girls in grades 3 through 7 who have little to no experience in girls’ lacrosse.  Players will learn fundamental stick skills (throwing, catching, scooping, cradling), along with the offensive and defensive skills necessary to build a solid game foundation.  In addition, players will become familiar with girls’ lacrosse rules and how the game is played through modified game situations.  Space is limited, so early registration is recommended!

  • Season: September 8th through October 13th
  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose field #1
  • Time: Sundays 1-2:30pm
  • Equipment:  Players will need to provide their own girls' lacrosse stick, eye cage and mouth guard.

Sessions are held on Sunday afternoons with emphasis on learning the fundamental lacrosse skills.  At this level, players learn skills in a clinic format with game situations introduced in the later weeks. Games are played intra-squad, small-sided, on a modified field with coaches on the field providing instruction.  This is a recreational program open to players of all experience levels.

  • Season: September 8th through October 13th
  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose field #1
  • Time: Sundays 1-2pm
  • Uniform: All players must have a Blackhawk Lacrosse royal blue reversible pinnie (you can purchase one during registration if you do not have one from last fall/winter).
  • Equipment:  Players will need to provide their own girls' lacrosse stick, eye cage and mouth guard.

  • Equipment: Players will need to provide their own girls' lacrosse stick, eye cage and mouth guard.
  • Format: 
    • Week 1 - Practice
    • Week 2 - Practice followed by scrimmage
    • Week 3 thru 6 - 45 min. practice followed by game with official

There will be break out goalie training dedicated to all goalies for the first 45 minutes of each practice.

This is a recreational program open to players of all experience levels. Please note this is a game-only league with limited instruction time before games.  The 7v7 game format allows for fun, fast-paced games with lots of touches!

NOTE: Not recommended for brand new players—if you have never played lacrosse, we recommend the 6-week Beginner Clinic.

  • Season: September 8th through October 13th 
  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose Field 2
  • Time: Sunday afternoons 1-2:30pm

WELCOME TO BLACKHAWK LACROSSE!

Blackhawk Lacrosse is the operating name for Hanover County Lacrosse Club, a non-profit organization developed to promote the growth of the sport of lacrosse in Hanover County, Virginia.

Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for your child to learn the game of lacrosse. At the core of our programs, we will teach appropriate skills and rules while stressing a positive atmosphere among the athletes to create a culture where kids love to play the game.

Hanover County Lacrosse Club is governed by a volunteer board of directors, and our coaches are volunteers. The success and growth of our programs depend heavily on the strong spirit of all our volunteers and their love of the game.
