Blackhawk Girls' Division

We are excited to offer lacrosse opportunities for girls from 1st to 12th grade.  Blackhawk offers 3 seasons to girls throughout the year:

  • Winter Indoor League (Jan - Feb)

Grades 1 to 8 and High School

Registration begins in October

  • Spring Season (Mar - May)

Grades 1 to 8

Registration begins in January

  • Fall League (Sep - Oct)

Grades 1 to 8 and High School

Registration begins in June


ABOUT BLACKHAWK GIRLS LACROSSE

New and experienced players are welcome at any age division. Our goal at each division is to introduce new players to basic fundamentals & game concepts while also challenging the more experienced player.

Our divisions are typically grouped by grade level*:

  • 1/2 Grades(No Winter League)
  • 3/4 Grades (2nd Graders are permitted in Winter League)
  • 5/6 Grades
  • 7/8 Grades
  • High School (No Spring Season)

* These groupings are subject to change depending on registration numbers


HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

All Hanover County Public High Schools offer Varsity & Junior Varsity programs in the Spring.  Blackhawk welcomes all new & experienced high school players from Hanover and the surrounding area into our Fall & Winter Leagues to encourage off-season skill development.


BEGINNER CLINICS

In keeping with our mission to provide lacrosse opportunities to all of Hanover youth, Blackhawk will offer new player clinics and specialized training opportunities in the Fall & Winter.  Our home page will be updated with these offerings as they become available. You may also join our Email List to receive communications about upcoming programs and events.


EQUIPMENT

The girls lacrosse program requires the player to purchase a lacrosse stick, googles, and a mouth guard. Uniforms are required for the Spring Season, while reversible pinnies are used for Winter and Fall. For a detailed list of equipment click here.


PRACTICE/GAME FIELD LOCATION

In the Spring Season, our main practice and home game fields are located at Courthouse Park, 7232 Courtland Farm Rd, Hanover,  VA 23069.

The Fall League is located at Pole Green Park, 8996 Pole Green Park Ln, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.

The Winter Indoor League is located at SportsReality Performance Training, 8137 Pine Ridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.


US LACROSSE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Under the direction of the USA Lacrosse Board of Directors, age-appropriate, national rules of play for youth girls' lacrosse have been developed for the 2022 season.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED

With the ever-increasing number of players each season, we are always looking for parent volunteers to coach a team. We cannot be successful without our volunteers! Blackhawk offers training opportunities and coaching resources to any parent that would like to step up. Be a part of the fastest growing sport in America and help to Grow The Game!

All head coaches for Blackhawk Lacrosse are required to complete the following:

  • Level 1 US Lacrosse Coaches Education Online Course
  • Level 1 Positive Coaching Alliance Online Course
  • NFHS "Concussions in Sports" online training
  • NCSI Background Check
